I usually prefer plain salted potato chips, but @timscascadesnacks is an exception where I think the flavored varieties I’ve tried are better. They make the best Sour Cream & Onion chip, and a very solid Jalapeño chip, so I think their thick and crunchy kettle cooked chip is a better base for flavor - instead of plain.
The salted chip is still crunchy, but the hardness of the crunch is more noticeable. Same thing with the oil, it’s probably the same amount of oily as the flavored versions, but the greasiness is much more noticeable. The hard fry does produce a nice texture with my always appreciated air bubbles. The main thing I’m docking points for is the chips are quite inconsistently salted. I normally don’t mind this, since it’s unrealistic to expect every chip to be seasoned the same, but the deviation is quite high. There are chips with barely any salt that just taste like hard greasy disks, and there are very very salted ones that are (dare I say it??) maybe even too salty for me. 😆 - 📍It’s All About The Bread, Hollywood
