Review: 🇲🇽 Takis Original

✈️ Chipalytics Travels! Ok I am SUCH a Takis noob. First of all, I never even had #Takis before until like a month ago, and it was only the mini Fuego ones I picked up as an impulse by a cash register. Secondly, I was in love and couldn’t believe I’ve never had them up until recently. THIRDLY, in Mexico I realized #TakisFuego isn’t even the main flavor, there’s Takis Original. And I love them too of course, choosing this one just totally depends on your mood. Maybe you don’t want a super flavor bomb or lime or you’re eating something else and want it on the side.

A full size Takis is ~2.5in in length of a dense but amazingly crunchy rolled corn chip. What a good and addicting base for flavor, it holds up to the flavor, has a slight grilled corn flavor of its own, is the perfect thickness to not be flimsy or too hard, it’s just major 💕💕. The original flavor is a smoky chili, also a bit of a grilled thing going - so kind of like a grilled mild chili pepper. It’s also spiced but not spicy, I’d say it’s a 2/10 spice level. It’s definitely less spicy than the Fuego version (which isn’t even really spicy) and has no lime flavor, but isn’t bland at all. The power button graphic on the bag is saying “This is a super satisfying corn chip with a smoked chili seasoning. Buy me now.” ❤️ Takis ❤️📍Random convenience store, San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

So what’s going on with this chip? Here are its highly scientific stats: Saltiness: MEDIUM-HIGH Flavor level: MEDIUM-HIGH Thickness: MEDIUM

Opinion ratings (1-10): Crunch: 9.4 Texture: 9.5 Flavor: 8.7

Overall: 9.0
