REVIEW: 🇹🇼Spicy Pea Crackers

Blarg, I really think I don’t like pea crackers/chips. Which is weird because I do like peas and pea snacks (dried ones with wasabi <3). But any pea based chip or cracker is really not my thing. This is the one that solidified it for me: Spicy Pea Crackers from Taiwan. The seasoning of this snack is actually ok, it’s a punchy mix of chili powder, onion powder, paprika, and co. + the usual #Asiansnack addition of MSG for that #umami taste. It wasn’t spicy-spicy but did have the tiniest of a kick, and the spices were balanced well. The spiral itself was decent too, it was slightly dense but brittle enough to break well with a thinner cracker-like crunch. The spiral shape also held the flavor well too, it was coated evenly and didn’t have any issues of under seasoning or overseasoning. However, despite the crunch of the spiral not being too bad, or the smooth texture, I really didn’t enjoy this snack. That’s how I know I dislike pea crackers/chips. The pea flavor was the elephant in the room - it wasn’t supposed to be the primary flavor, but you can’t ignore it no matter how hard you tried. It’s like a smell that won’t go away, and even if you like the smell, it’s not what you want at the moment yet is relentless. If you like pea bases, go for this snack. If you think it can be overdone and it’ll result in a weird grassy flavor mixture, then skip it. - 📍@99ranchmarket, Irvine California
