Since I determined in my plain #Rufflesreview that Ruffles do need flavor (or dip), I decided to try re-visiting what I remembered as the best Ruffle: Cheddar & Sour Cream. And...I still think it’s the best! I haven’t tried Canada’s #AllDressed yet, but I think it’ll be up against a strong contender with this one. The flavor is a bomb mix of cheddar cheese and sour cream. The two flavors tie together well since there’s a tanginess from the #sourcream, which complements the medium cheddar flavor really well. There’s also creaminess from both, which makes me wonder why you don’t see the exclusive flavor combination incorporated more outside of chips. When you usually have cheese and sour cream together, there’s usually other flavors too (thinking of baked potatoes, Mexican American food, or using some sour cream as a flavor enhancer but not as a primary complementary flavor …). Like why isn’t there sour cream Mac & #cheese? Grilled cheese with sour cream? Pizza? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!
The #cheddar isn’t quite sharp, but is definitely not just mild - so medium cheddar + sour cream results in a really nice, #cheesy, creamy, tangy flavor. The consistency of amount of seasoning on each chip is solid too, sometimes you do get a chip that isn’t seasoned very well, but there are also rare ones that are seasoned more heavily. When I had the Original Ruffles, I noticed some of the flaws in the chip itself, but those are almost erased when you have a good flavor. The chip is still a little hard, has kind of a shitty oil taste, and doesn’t have the best crispy crunch, BUT it’s all good when you have ridges that hold delicious cheddar and sour cream flavor. All in all, a yummy snack, with a bit of nostalgia as well. - 📍@bristolfarms, Hollywood
