It’s been years since I last had #PopChips, and these were definitely better than I remembered! What I remembered was a puffier chip that had more of a rice cake texture/crunch. Am I remembering incorrectly, or am I making that up/confusing it with another brand? Anyway, I was pleased with this #snack, but would very rarely choose it over a real chip. I pretty much would only choose an alternative chip over average to bad versions of traditional corn and #potatochips aka chips that are lower than 6.0. There’s absolutely no match from alternative #chips in texture and crunch compared to decent potato/corn chips, but these chip makers do tend to do quite well on flavor. The crunch of this chip is pretty good, it had a nice break and was airy and crispy. The texture does have that rice cake dryness thing to it, and the styrofoam-y chewing was there but somewhat minimal because the chip was on the thinner side.
The sour cream & onion flavor was solidly good. Nothing that blew my mind, but it was definitely the standout of this snack to me. A good mix of the two, the sour cream’s tartness and the onion’s slight sweetness. The salt level was medium too, but I would’ve preferred the chip to have a bit more seasoning since you could also taste the background of rice. Not bad, by any means, and not really something you NEED to cover up with flavor. But I personally would’ve liked more, which would also make eating less slightly more satisfying. This bag was tiny and I felt like I could’ve had like 4 bags easily. But maybe that’s what they were going for haha. - 📍@wholefoods, West Hollywood
