Trying out #Paqui for the first time! Eye-catching branding with the Aztec inspired bag design, and pleased to say these are a very decent snack. I see what they’re trying to do too, similar to Luke’s Organic, they’re making a “grown up” version of Cool Ranch #Doritos. This reminds me of those Youtube videos of pastry chefs making Twinkies or Pop Tarts since this tastes like something a chef dreamed up when recreating a classic. It’s not a full mirror of Cool Ranch flavor, nor is it a Doritos knock off, but is it’s own thing that draws inspiration from both.
The flavor is the best part of this chip. It’s a good and unique mix of sour cream, tomatillo, and lime. All the ingredients taste real and therefore more potent: the sour cream is tangier than what’s usually on chips, the lime is more tart, the tomatillo is slightly spicier (but the chip itself is not a very high spice). It’s a denser chip so the crunch is lacking a bit, but it’s not too too bad. The texture is smoother too and the shape of the chip is more like wider triangle #tortillachips. I do prefer a slightly less dense chip though - I don’t mind a dense chip but it would still need to break well (like Takis). These don’t break quite as well, but does do very well on the flavor front. - 📍@nordstromrack, Los Angeles
