Korea’s answer to Japan’s shrimp chip, Nongshim’s Potato Snack is one of the most visible core #Koreansnacks. And I can see why! This snack is more of a really solid everyday snack, versus the crazy or flash-in-the-pan flavor you tend to see more in Asian #snacks. Like #shrimpchips, Potato Snack is also a puffed flour and corn stick, except it’s thinner and the texture is a little different due to the proportionally bigger air bubbles compared to stick thickness. The length of each stick is about 2.5in. and the width is about ⅓in, and the texture is an airier baked puff that is still really crispy/crunchy. Also because it’s thinner, it does that thing where it makes you feel like you can eat more when in actuality you’re eating less. I think this is a Korean diet trick I need in my life 😂
The flavor is #umami MSG with a surprising crab seasoning. At first I didn’t love it since I wasn’t expecting crustacean flavor, but I did get used to it around the 3rd stick (and on). I think the flavor is pretty good, it isn’t overwhelming but is definitely detectable. So even though the crab and overall flavor is the subtle side, I wouldn’t recommend this snack if you’re not a seafood snack person. - 📍Zion Market, Koreatown
