REVIEW: 🇰🇷Lotte Ggoggal Corn aka Korean Bugles

I realized while I was eating this snack that Bugles are NOT shaped like they are for the purpose of putting them on your fingers to pretend you have claws or really long nails. It’s because they’re shaped and ridged/textured to MIMIC CORN!! 🤯 Did everyone here know this already or am I not as dense as I thought?? These by #Lotteare licensed Bugles - permitted by General Mills, original makers of Bugles in the US - so they have the same elongated ear-of-corn triangle shape with little horizontal ridges. Combined with the rougher crunchy texture, it almost looks like kernels on corn.

Yum yum. I forgot about how much I like #Bugles, and these are very very similar. Other than being a product of Korea (with Korean sourced ingredients), are these even different from normal Bugles? I need to do a taste comparison to have a clear view on the nuances, but I really did enjoy Lotte’s #Korean regional iteration. Great crunch and not too greasy (I kind of remember Bugles to be slightly more greasy), and the texture was on the airy side. The actual chip was not dense, but the airiness is further supported by the hollow cone opening. The flavor was great and it was salted quite well - I generally prefer medium-high to high salt anyway, especially for this type of snack. If the salt level was too low, it would’ve severely impacted the satisfaction of these, but they were indeed salted appropriately and similar level to Bugles. There is some corn flavor as well from the cornmeal main ingredient, but not too overwhelming. - 📍고맙습니다 @lottesweetlandfor sending these to me! You can find these and other Lotte products at Korean markets (HMart, Zion etc.) and some Asian markets

So what’s going on with this chip? Here are its highly scientific stats: Saltiness: MEDIUM-HIGH Flavor level: LOW-MEDIUM Thickness: MEDIUM

Opinion ratings (1-10): Crunch: 9.0 Texture: 8.7 Flavor: 9.1

Overall: 8.9

Weird how ‘salt’ is listed as an ingredient for these, because they were not salty at. All. Which is a shame, because these are...
