Ah Lay’s. What a well manufactured chip. The Krispy Kreme of the chip world, Lay’s are not about a natural potato flavor or texture - but is about the most thought out and mature manufactured chip of texture and crunch perfection. I should save this for when I do a post on Classic Lay’s (which are one of my favorite chips ever), but the reason why I’m getting into it now is because this flavor has the signature Classic Lay's chip foundation - crispy but not hard, thin but not unsubstantial, flavored but not overdone.
This particular flavor is from Mexico, and is what I would think is their answer/version/interpretation of salt & vinegar chips. It has a similar level of tartness and acidity to s&v chips I’ve tried, which is overall stronger than the saltiness of the chip. I would say this chip is more sour than anything, but there is a lightness and freshness/brightness to it that I assume would be the lemon.

Like most flavored chips varieties, I put the overall weight more on flavor. I don’t hate salt and vinegar chips but they’re not my favorite either, but these are strangely addicting. I would attribute it to the great chip base and consistently balanced lemon flavor. All in all, a great snack - and one I’ll be reaching for on the off chance I’m craving vinegar chips. I wonder how these compare to the American s&v Lay’s, but I’m sure I’ll find out eventually on my #chipalytics journey!
