Another natural sea salt flavored chip review today, since I wanted a direct comparison with Jackson’s Honest from yesterday. Today I went with a chip I’ve had before but a while back: Kettle Chips Sea Salt flavor! I haven’t had this chip in years but have had, of course, more recently their various flavored chips. I usually don’t like this brand too much, I find that they’re too thick, too hard, too much flavor powder, but usually undersalted so the flavor comes across as both overwhelming yet bland.
The sea salt flavor however, wasn’t terrible. I might even say it’s the best thing from Kettle! It's still not a top natural chip (Boulder Canyon and Jackson’s Honest are better options), but it’s better than their other varieties. The chip is still a little too hard and too thick, but at least this one is well salted. The chip is also fried in vegetable oil and is quite greasy - I have a pretty high tolerance for greasy but only if it’s cut with enough salt. This one is, but the small bottom of the bag pieces were somewhat wet from the oil. This bag also had a LOT of curled/folded pieces, about 70% of it had to be separated or tossed in the trash.

So what’s going on with this chip? Here are its highly scientific stats: Saltiness: MEDIUM-HIGH
Flavor level: LOW-MEDIUM
Thickness: MEDIUM-HIGH
Opinion ratings (1-10): Crunch: 5.3
Texture: 4.4
Flavor: 6.7
Overall: 5.4
I expected this to be in the 3.0 range but the Sea Salt did exceed my expectation. If Kettle Chips are the only option I’ll know to go for this flavor!
