Love trying my favorite type of chips, classic potato chips, for a first time by a chip maker I’ve also never tried. There are so many nuances to the classic potato chip - flavor, thickness to salt ratio, quality of potato, quality of fry/oil. Each company does theirs slightly differently, but Herr’s did remind me of many chips I’ve had before with slight slight differences.
This is definitely a manufactured tasting chip, most similar to classic #lays. Manufactured doesn’t mean bad, it just means it’s not a rustic style, natural type of chip. This one is very consistent, each chip’s texture, thickness, and saltiness is within 2% of variance to the rest of the bag. I loved the big size and thinness of the chips, but did feel like the chips could’ve been slightly crispier and saltier. Because they were thin, crunchiness wasn’t a huge issue, but they didn’t break as well as some other thin chips. This is most likely due to the more potato-y the chips were, they still did have some potato texture and even some skin, but weren’t the fried to oblivion crunchy chips like some other brands (...which I love). The oil and potato flavor itself was just almost there, not the best but definitely pretty good. They reminded me of a second-choice of Lay’s. Swipe right to see other second choices. - 📍@cvs, Hollywood
