First time trying this flavor from Hawaiian Kettle Chips! Didn’t really know what to expect going in, the last onion flavor chips I had were from Dirty chips and I’m not sure I was the biggest fan of the flavor of onion chips in general. However these are really addicting and oddly good! Hawaiian makes my favorite barbecue flavor chips so I did have slight expectations in the chip itself, and it did not disappoint. Their chips are quite hard but it’s not a bad thing because they’re also very crunchy. Meaning you don’t feel like you’re chewing forever, like some kettle chips.
The flavor evenly coats the chip via an onion powder and it does leave some residue on the fingers, but not too bad. About 15% of the bag were folded chips so also not too bad! The onion flavor is sweet but not too sweet, and is more onion-y than anything. I would describe it as a concentrated artificial onion powder flavor, think Funyun’s more intense cousin on DMT. The potato flavor is hiding behind the flavor, but if you search far and wide you’ll find it in an aftertaste. I seriously thought after two chips it would be enough, they’re good but the flavor was strong so I thought it wasn’t a whole-bag kind of chip (and I ate it pre-dinner so didn’t want to fully ruin my appetite) but uh...I ate the whole bag. Whoops but no regrets. 😜

I don’t know when I’ll be like “I want onion chips!!” but when that ever happens, these are the ones to get and accidentally eat the whole bag of. Another solid specific flavor from Hawaiian, good job sweetie, you’re doing great.
