Yum! Love it when I encounter a good plain potato chip. This time from @hawaiianbrandsnacks, a brand who’s onion and bbq chips I’ve tried, but never the plain OG. These were yummy kettle chips, and did have a bit of…#Hawaiian flair, is the only way I can sum it up. Where is this Hawaiian flavor coming from?? The chip ingredients are only potatoes, vegetable oil, and salt...so maybe the potatoes? They do taste more potato-y, but not in an artificial way. Pretty confused though, how did they manage to replicate an island produce vibe for a potato NOT from Hawaii (they’re actually from Washington state)? If you’ve ever been to an island and ate local produce, you’ll know the heartier, almost sweeter taste of the produce. And these have that!
The chip is their signature very crunchy and crispy texture, a longer kettle fry which results in an initially harder-than-usual crisp. But the #chips are still slightly brittle so chomping down on a bunch of them isn’t an issue. They are also salted quite well, crispier rustic #kettlechipsneed a liberal amount of seasoning and these are definitely salted appropriately. Definitely recommended for plain kettle chip lovers! - 📍@bristolfarms, Hollywood
