Mahalo @hawaiianbrandsnacks for making my favorite barbeque flavor chip! They always do a nice job of a kettle chip that’s well fried and not too thick, resulting in a very satisfying crunch. For some reason this bag’s chips were thinner than the last two bags of #Hawaiianchips I tried (Sweet Maui Onion and Island Green Chili), but you know I do NOT have a problem with that since I usually prefer thin chips anyway 😂 It was still thick enough to not be overwhelmed by the very saturated flavor though, but still thin so you can eat more than you had planned but not feel weighed down.
Speaking of the saturated flavor (look at how much flavor on the chips!!), the BBQ is sweet, smokey, and so so addicting. The bag says sweet and spicy, but I wouldn’t say it’s spicy-spicy. I’d say there’s a bit of spice that complements the sweetness of the bbq well, so it’s spice-y like paprika, instead of heat-spicy like jalapeño. The chip is also well salted to balance out the bbq flavor - I feel like not having a lot of salt to balance the sweet and smokey is where a lot of bbq chips miss the mark. -📍CVS, Hollywood
So what’s going on with this chip? Here are its highly scientific stats:
Saltiness: MEDIUM
Flavor level: HIGH
Thickness: THIN-MEDIUM
Opinion ratings (1-10):
Crunch: 8.5
Texture: 8.0
Flavor: 8.9
Overall: 8.6
A must try if you’re a fan of barbeque flavor chips. This is definitely a chip to eat alone though, when I first opened this bag I was eating it with an Italian sandwich - which was a mistake lol what was I thinking. It brought out weird flavors in both the sandwich and chip, but when I tried the chip again the next day as a standalone snack and all the weird flavors were gone. The conclusion is there are many facets 💎 to the flavor behind this chip, and all other eating variables should be kept constant when consuming.
