After yesterday’s disastrous kettle chip experience, I had to go back to a chip I know is good. This one is @bouldercanyon‘s classic salt kettle chips, cooked in olive oil. These to me are ALMOST the perfect natural chip. What makes this chip stand out from the rest of the natural chips is its impressive crunch. It really brings to light how other companies tend to be heavy handed with their chip creation, either they’re too thick, or not fried well resulting in hard chips that aren’t crispy enough, the oil is gross, or they’re just off. These don’t run into any of those issues! This particular one is cooked in olive oil, and while they don’t taste super olive oil-y, it’s definitely detectable and has a nice aftertaste that isn’t “junky”. The only comment with these is the saltiness is rather inconsistent. There are salty ones that are 10.0, but many are unfortunately undersalted. - 📍@wholefoods, West Hollywood
So what’s going on with this chip? Here are its highly scientific stats:
Saltiness: LOW-MEDIUM
Flavor level: MEDIUM
Thickness: MEDIUM
Opinion ratings (1-10):
Crunch: 10.0
Texture: 10.0
Flavor: 7.5
Overall: 8.6
In my opinion, the best brand pick when you’re at a #WholeFoods or want to make a healthier snack choice. While a chip can never be healthy-healthy, the ingredients are definitely more wholesome yet the chip satisfaction is not compromised. I remember the avocado oil and rice bran oil chips being saltier though, will get those soon and report back!
