Review: 🇲🇽 Barcel Artisan Style Kettle Cooked Fuego

I’m lucky to live in an area (and a time!) where chips from other countries are available at a local market. Happy to see some non-Takis chips from #Barcel, and since I’ve liked-to-loved everything I’ve tried from them, I had to pick these up 😊 The flavor on the bag says “Fuego”, so I’m thinking that’s like their #FlamingHot - a signature/franchise flavor that is applied to their other #chips. It’s even pretty similar in taste, it’s a delicious mix of spicy pepper and a punch of lime (much more tart and lime-y compared to FH though). Also very similarly to Flaming Hot, the application on the chip base makes each #Fuego snack have varying spiciness/flavor. I actually don’t think #Takis Fuego are that spicy - there is little heat but they’re not that bad. These though, are pretty spicy🔥! Not inedible spicy, but it’s definitely not for those with lower spice tolerances. I think these overall have a very seasoned, spicy, citrusy, great bold blend of flavors. Yum!

The chip itself though, is not my favorite. While the seasoning can probably make any chip good, this kind of reminded me of kettle cooked #Lays. Kind of a rough, a bit too hard, a shittier tasting chip. I like a well done rustic chip, but these were a bit too much in that they were too thick and heavy handed. Still palatable though, but I could’ve done with a slightly higher quality oil and less of a hard fry. - 📍Laurel Canyon Country Store, Los Angeles

Weird how ‘salt’ is listed as an ingredient for these, because they were not salty at. All. Which is a shame, because these are...
