What is a chip? Probably not this, but I’m still reviewing it as a “chip tangent”. One degree further from a Cheeto Puff, this chip tangent is both 1) a puff and 2) sweet. Let’s get into it!
I can’t think of a time I’ve had a freshly opened normal puff product (not marketed as healthy, gluten free etc) where the puff itself isn’t good. It usually loses me in other areas like flavor, and this puff isn’t any different. It’s a slightly curled elongated puff shape that is crispy but soft, airy but dissolves. The puff itself was pretty standard although my personal preference is to eat an entire puff in one bite and these were a bit long. Shorten it by 20% and I’d have no issues with it.
The flavor is sweet and mild. That artificial banana milky flavor is maybe too mild, it’s definitely a lighter flavor, lighter sweetened puff. My American tastes would’ve liked a bit stronger flavor but after thinking about it, I don’t think the flavor level was the problem. I think the concept itself, the puff as a carrier of the banana flavor - is somewhat flawed. I think the 🍌 flavor (especially with the Asian touch of pairing it with a milky subflavor), is much better as cream products. Ie. 🍌 milk, 🍌custard/filling, 🍌cream popsicles, 🍌 soft serve etc.
